Did I do that?

I can't believe I pulled this off. This is what I started with. A couch with great bones and awful upholstery...stinky to boot. It sat this way in my living room for almost 6 months teasing me with it's potential...but I was a chicken. I was scared that the self re-upholstery job I planned to do would be a total flop and I would be very deflated both in self-esteem and pocket book.

Finally I could no longer handle the musty old person smell. I just kept thinking of the 40 year old skin cells lingering in and around that stinky, plaid, STD ridden couch. So I ripped it off. Don't worry I was well equipped with face mask and gloves. I had to remove 834 staples...(that is just a rough estimate, I didn't count because I do have a life, or at least I want you to think I do).
Then I did a trial run with scrap fabric using the previous cover for a pattern. It was a dang good thing to, because I had to tweak quite a few things to get the final product looking like....

THIS!!!!
I am soo proud of myself. So proud that I don't even care about being modest and humble about it. Do I rock or what. It fits like a glove. Ya...I rock.
Now I just need to get some kick a** art for that wall. Any suggestions?

  1. Bethy! That looks amazing! You'll have to teach me how to upholster furniture someday. :)

  2. Wow, Beth. I had no idea you were up to so much awesomeness. Then again, I'm not too surprised. Do I hear the words 'future business' ringing through the air or is this a hobby? Regardless, you are one skilled mama.
